HOLIDAY CAMPS WITH KINDTREE KIDS
SPRING 2024 FEATURING:
MLK DAY CAMP - Diversity and Community Service Projects!
January 15 - Together, we will read Diane Alber’s book Finding Your Spot in the World: A Story About Diversity. In the vast world, we all look different, act different, and like different things. We each have hard times, strengths, and weaknesses, and they are what make us who we are. Your differences may stand out and so might the differences in others, but the world needs them! We will remind children that by believing in ourselves, we can build new ideas, new perspectives, and new actions. This holiday camp will unpack important questions that make us think about what it’s like to be different, what acceptance means and feels like, and how to live our lives honoring all differences! Each MLK Camp always includes a community service project. In the past we have made food for food fridges, sandwiches for sandwich drives, put together care packages for the unhoused, made dog toys/treats for shelters, and upcycled cards for the holidays to give to those who have less.
Our community service project this year will be to use a portion of the fees for this camp to build care and hygiene packets for the unhoused. This continues to be something that all ages can participate in, understand the need for, and easily distribute to reach so many who need it. I have had so many children share their experience of giving these bags to others and it truly helps to bring awareness to the communities that are so often underserved in this city.
