OUR FALL THEME:
"INSIDE MY MIND" is the overarching theme for our KindTreeKids Social Saturday/Sunday Spring programming. This program is designed to help children ages 5-11 develop emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and emotional regulation skills. Each session takes place outdoors and includes sensory regulation activities, collaborative play opportunities, and group/individual teaching moments. Children will learn to navigate their inner world, understand the difference between their worries and reality, build awareness of impulse management, and develop play and social skills to respond to challenges with flexibility and confidence.
KindTreeKids is passionate about providing a supportive environment where children can explore their emotions, practice self-advocacy, and learn strategies to manage their reactions— all through play. We break down complex emotional concepts into kid-friendly language and interactive activities, empowering children to become more emotionally resilient, self-aware, and equipped with lifelong skills for understanding themselves and others.

MORE ABOUT OUR TOPICS:
JANUARY 18/19 - ANXIETY VS. TRUTH. Anxiety often deceives us. It can make us feel like the worst possible things will happen and that we won’t be able to handle the situation if they do. These are called "worry stories." In this session, we will discover that the worry stories (also known as automatic negative thoughts) that pop into our heads without effort, making us feel anxious or worried, are unhelpful. We have the power to recognize when this is happening and replace those thoughts with something more positive or encouraging. We will learn tools to help us feel more in control of our anxiety and worries!
FEBRUARY 15/16 - RESPONDING VS. OVERREACTING. Feeling disappointed, embarrassed, annoyed, or angry—these are all emotions we often overreact to, when in reality, they are things we should simply respond to. This session will explore ways we can respond calmly to frustration without an explosion of words or actions. The first step is recognizing the triggers that make us feel explosive. The next step is understanding which tools work best for us. The final step is learning how to use these tools in the moment. All three steps require a LOT of practice (which is why these topics are frequently covered in KTK!). This is an important concept with lifelong benefits, and we’ll dive into it during this session!
MARCH 15/16 - COOPERATING. Cooperation is defined as "the process of working together to the same end." Right under that definition, it also says, "assistance by ready compliance with requests." We often think of cooperation in relation to "teamwork," but in this group, we aim to encourage the intrinsic desire to cooperate, help others, and be part of the group, rather than simply "following directions." This group will help set the stage for our children to understand the importance of cooperation to others and the benefits it brings to us as individuals when we are cooperative and helpful!
APRIL 26/27 - DISAPPOINTMENT & MANAGING EXPECTATIONS. In a world where we are constantly seeking dopamine, there are many opportunities to experience disappointment. The power of flexible thinking and overcoming obstacles—no matter how big or small—can help your child learn to manage their expectations. When we have flexible expectations, we can set achievable goals and create agreements. This helps develop the mental strength and resilience needed to tackle anything that comes our way.
MAY 17/18 - (SPRING HIKE) WANTS VS. NEEDS & SELF-ADVOCACY. This session is held at a different location. There is a difference between the things you want and the things you need. Learning how to tell the difference can be achieved by asking a few simple questions. Knowing what you need and communicating it to others also takes practice. This group will help us discover that when we have uncomfortable feelings, they are there to alert us that a need has not been met. Being familiar with our needs helps us communicate them to others so we can work together to meet those needs. This session will remind us that taking care of our needs is called self-advocacy.
These groups are limited in size and they fill up VERY quickly so please take this into consideration when you register!
***Cancellations must be done at least 7 DAYS prior to the January session for you to move the deposit to another program. The cancellation policy is outlined in further detail on the registration page. By registering for this program, you agree to these terms. Thank you for your understanding!
