TINY KindTreeKids Social Play Days! Ages 3-5
-play-based learning social skills groups-
KindTreeKids with Communication Interventions is excited to open up our programs to TINYS!! These programs will offer a foundation of what KindTreeKids are all about. This will be a platform for them as they age into learning the basics of social skills and build play skills and build group engagement.
Play is where a tremendous amount of learning about oneself, thinking about others, following directions, and language (social and emotional) skills can flourish. We all know that learning social skills is a key part of child development. Successful social skills allow kids to interact positively with others and communicate their needs, wants, and feelings effectively. Plus, the benefits of robust social skills reach far beyond social relationships and acceptance. We know that it can actually help amplify other areas like confidence, resilience, gratitude, empathy, and compassion. We also know that it’s essential to start teaching these skills early. Our sessions will send children home regulated, confident, and with the social skills seeds planted for later carryover and practice. Each session will include an email home that covers the content covered (book links, the vocabulary used, recommendations to do at home, and pictures!) That’s where you come in by taking that information and using it in all settings and experiences so the material can be truly learned and integrated into everyday challenges. This doesn’t all happen in our groups where all problems get solved, but we do promise to plant all the important seeds!
Social-emotional learning helps children build confidence, talk about their feelings, and resolve conflicts and can start at ANY AGE! This season, our Tinys will first learn to discover how we can use our bodies to be stronger listeners. When we begin to tune in to our own bodies, we are then better able to build our social awareness skills. As we layer those awareness tool, we will unpack what anger and worry look and feel like (in ourselves and others!). As we wind down the year, we will adventure on our first Tiny Hike where we will learn how to be "Love Bugs". Finally, our Tinys will participate in a community service activty to demonstrate that we can do good deeds, no matter how small to help those in need and inspire others to do the same by setting an example.
TOPICS:
August 18 - Whole Body Listening
Whole body listening involves more than just using your ears. It means also using your eyes, feet, body, mouth, brain, hands, and heart. Each part plays a specific role so that you can truly focus, hear, and understand what is being said. This group will practice all the differnet ways we can use our body to be strong listeners!
September 29 - Anger
What does anger FEEL like? What does anger LOOK like? How can we tell when we are angry and how can we tell when other's are angry? In this group, we will learn what to look for in others and what to listen for in our bodies so we can have a better relationship with understanding and responding to anger!
October 20- Worry
Everyone worries! When we feel worried, we have to remember that we are in charge of our thoughts! While worries are natural and normal (and will happen throughout our lives), we have ot remember that we are stronger than those worries and we can't let them change who we are . We can use tools to help our brains and bodies stay calm when we feel worried so we can get the help we need to feel safe.
November 24 - (FALL HIKE) Love Bugs
Our November Tinys will be changing locations for November and attempting our very first Tiny Hike this November! We have found that the older kids *really* love the hiking programs and we believe that all ages benefit from exploring and playing in nature. Our topic will be about how to be loving, kind creatures wherever we are!
December 22 - Generosity
We may be tiny but our December group will illustrate just how big our giving hearts are. We will discover that when we do good deeds out of the kindness of our hearts (no matter how small), other people want to do the same AND those in need can benefit! We will do an age appropriate good deed activity for our final session of the year in hopes to open our hearts during the holiday season.
